Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge
Established in 1938, the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge has become the breeding ground for the area’s wildlife and migratory birds, being in one of the country’s more active flight lanes.
With more than 7,000 acres, the refuge spans three different counties: Cayuga, Seneca and Wayne. This is where you could see waterfowl such as the Canada geese and black duck, marsh birds such as the great egret and Virginia rail, shorebirds, and even bald eagles.
The Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge is located at 2981 US Route 20 in Montezuma. Call (315) 568-5987 or visit its Web site for more details.
